Rare Signed C. Rivaud French Art Nouveau Natural Coral Ring Paris c.1900 Description An exceptionally rare and important original French Art Nouveau ring by the celebrated Parisian artist-jeweller C. Rivaud, dating from approximately 1900–1910. The ring is clearly signed C. RIVAUD to the inside of the shank, confirming its authorship. Charles Henri Rivaud was one of the distinguished French artistic jewellers working in Paris during the golden age of the Art Nouveau movement. Rather than producing commercial jewellery, he created individually designed artistic pieces characterised by sculptural modelling, organic flowing forms and exceptional craftsmanship. Original signed jewellery by Rivaud is rarely encountered on today’s market and is highly sought after by collectors of important French Art Nouveau jewellery. This remarkable ring is a superb example of Rivaud’s distinctive artistic style. The bold sculptural design displays deeply modelled flowing forms surrounding a beautifully proportioned natural coral cabochon, creating a dramatic composition typical of the finest French jewellery produced at the beginning of the twentieth century.
