Antique Malay Silver Posy Ring Bowl 105g c.1900 Hand Chased Floral

A beautiful antique Malay/Malaysian silver posy ring bowl, believed to date from the late 19th to early 20th century. This unusual circular flower holder is finely decorated with hand-chased floral scrollwork, geometric borders and repeating stylised flower motifs. The detailed decoration continues around the outer body and inner ring. Posy ring bowls were traditionally used as decorative table centrepieces for displaying short-stemmed flowers, such as carnations, daisies and other small blooms. The piece bears two impressed Asian silver marks, including what appears to be a maker’s or workshop mark. The exact maker and silver fineness have not been identified or independently tested.
